COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS
FARM NAME, HERD PREFIX & MEMBERSHIP
Log into your AKKPS Member Portal.
If your membership dues are currently due the system will prompt you to pay.
Should you wish to renew early, you can do this up to 2 months in advance in the portal.
Per AKKPS By Laws, the AKKPS does not allow active or lapsed members to change their farm name once a pig from that farm has been fully registered.
If no pigs have been fully registered and no pigs have been assigned registered names with the AKKPS, the member is permitted to change their farm name. KuneKunes are given a registered name at the time of full registration effective 1/1/23. Please email the registrar at registrar@akkps.org should you meet the criteria and wish to change your farm name.
The AKKPS Member Portal is real time and comprehensive including membership, registration items and the AKKPS Herd Book. Changing a farm name would change the registered name of every animal having the farm name in their registered name in the AKKPS Herd Book.
Members are not permitted to open a new membership using a different farm name with the exception of divorce of which documentation is required. Should you need assistance with this situation, please email the registrar at registrar@akkps.org
AKKPS Herd Prefixes are used for DNA purposes only.
The AKKPS uses full farm names in the registered name of pigs.
Registered names are assigned at the time of full registration by the AKKPS registrar. The registrar adds these names to the DNA report.
Having a herd prefix that is the same as another registry could lead to confusion on DNA reports when the pig has been litter notified with 2 registries.
Per AKKPS bylaws, the AKKPS does not allow a person to be removed from an AKKPS Membership unless the member being removed emails the AKKPS giving permission via email or there is court documentation. All pigs in the AKKPS Herd Book will have the name deleted.
Please email the registrar with the information.
