The following are lists of items that you MAY need for post & pre farrowing and during farrowing compiled by Members of the AKKPS. Please note items with RX require a prescription from your vet.

Dexamethasone (RX) - for inflammation and pain in sow - can help with retained in piglets to prevent upper respiratory infection - steroid
Banamine (RX) - relieves pain, swelling and fever - non steroid
LA 300 (RX) - broad-spectrum antibiotic - used if an internal exam was done on the sow
Draxxin (RX) - antibiotic for upper respiratory infection
Penicillin G (RX) - used for pneumonia and wound infections
Oxytocin (RX) - a synthetic version of the hormone oxytocin that stimulates uterine muscles to cause contraction
Meloxicam (RX) - Relieves inflammation
Nuflor - broad spectrum antibiotic
Excede - used for respiratory disease
Bactrim / SMZ - antibiotic-sulfa combination used to treat a wide range of infections
NON RX LIST

Canned Pumpkin - used to settle a sows stomach
Tums - given for 1 week prior to farrowing to increase calcium for muscles and milk production and 1 week after farrowing
Peaches - constipation in sow or older piglet
Prune Juice - constipation in sow or older piglet
Greek Yogurt
Goats Milk - supplement feeding piglet IF needed
Prilosec - for sows with ulcers
DeWormers - pre and post farrowing for the sow, piglets at weaning
Injectable Iron - for piglets at 3 days old
Nutri Drench - Glucose, high vitamins, minerals, amino acids in the bloodstream in minutes. Maintaining weight in hot nursery weak newborns, scours, ketosis, disease, shipping stress, weather stress
Milkin Mix - promotes milk production - start 10 days prior to farrowing and continue until weaning
Jump Start - feed during times of stress and aids in the digestion of nutrients for maximum feed efficiency
Calcium Gluconate - used during farrowing for sows muscles that are depleted of calcium and she is not effectively pushing
Melatonin gummies or liquid - post farrowing to calm a high strung sow down
Slap Shot - used to give injections safely

16 gauge - administer calcium to sow
18 gauge - administer antibiotics to sow
22 gauge - administer iron injections to piglets

Milk Replacer - IF piglets need supplementing
Colostrum Replacer - IF piglets need supplementing
Sterile Scissors - to trim long umbilical cord
Oral Microbial Gel - a direct-fed microbial containing lactic acid-producing bacteria, live yeast, dried chicory root, vitamins, and enzymes
OB Gloves - used when you have to perform an internal on a sow or to wear during farrowing
Suturing Kit - used to stitch a piglet who has been stepped on injured
Aspirator Bulb - to suck out piglets mouths of excess fluids
