HOW TO INTRODUCE KUNEKUNES

You ever seen two dudes size each other up like “You even lift, bro?” That’s exactly the energy when you introduce two Kunekunes for the first time. A little grunting, a little posturing, maybe a dramatic slow-motion shove — pig style.
Kunekunes are social animals, and like all good societies, someone’s gotta be in charge. They work that out through a natural social hierarchy — no need for you to referee every squeal and shove. Need some tips for introductions?
HOW TO
- Start with a fence meet-n-greet if you can.
- When you do put them together, supervise.
- Make sure the smaller or younger pig has room to get away if needed. No corner-trapping allowed.
- Expect some fussing and light shoving — that’s normal. Most squabbles are short and harmless.
HELPFUL HINTS
- If you separate them during the sorting-out phase, you’ll reset the clock — and they’ll have to go through the whole drama again next time.
- Younger pigs are usually accepted faster since they’re not seen as competition for “top pig” status.
- Don't put yourself in danger if things get spicy. Have a sorting board handy if you do need to step in.
But give them a little time, and before you know it, they will be besties — snuggled up in a pig pile like they’ve been together forever.
