The AKKPS received a lot of valuable feed back from the June 2025 show survey and vote helping the AKKPS know what members want and expect from an AKKPS Sanctioned Show.

Your voices were heard and the AKKPS will host a sanctioned AKKPS Show in 2026 using the suggestions and comments from the June AKKPS survey. 

Below is a brief overview of the 2026 AKKPS Hosted & Sanctioned Show as well as the anticipated show budget providing transparency of what a quality show will cost in dollars and BOD volunteer hours.

BRIEF SHOW OVERVIEW 

• The AKKPS has updated the AKKPS Show Manual which includes the revised AKKPS Sanctioning rules for members to view in the link below.
• All awarded show titles will be entered into the AKKPS Herd Book.
• AKKPS Members will be offered the opportunity to sponsor the show and each sponsor will receive a certain number of free show entries depending on the level of sponsorship.
• Entry and video submission (which will be done at the same time in one portal) will take place over 1.5 to 2 months to provide all members time to enter taking in account weather, farrowing, blowing of coats, etc.
• Pregnant and nursing sows as well as pigs that are blowing their coats will be noted as such at entry allowing these pigs to be shown and the judge to be aware not to deduct for these situations.
• The show will be streamed via a web broadcasting company with judge comments throughout as well as a commentator allowing the show to be aired from start to finish.  The web casting company provides a "turn key" show with entry / video upload / payment / video editing / etc. included in the cost cutting down significantly on volunteer hours while  providing the AKKPS Membership with an educational, fun, fair show.
• The AKKPS will use a professional third party auditor to verify all submitted videos meet the revised AKKPS sanctioning rules as voted on by the AKKPS Membership prior to the show.  The auditor ideally will be the web broadcasting company. 
• The judge will be chosen by the AKKPS Board of Directors all of whom will sign a legal document that no BOD Member has a personal or professional relationship with the judge prior to the judge being chosen which will be available for AKKPS Members to view.
• One AKKPS Board Member will abstain from entering the show and be the sole source of communication with the judge and 3rd party video auditor.  There will be a legal confidentiality statement signed by the abstaining AKKPS BOD Member which will be available for AKKPS Members to view.
• The judge will be apprised of the characteristics of a KuneKune, understand the meaning of KuneKune and be aware the KuneKune is a multi purpose pig.
• Laughs at the end of show ..... "show video bloopers"
• This will be the only AKKPS Sanctioned show for 2026 as the EKPA has permanently pulled  registry sanctioning for EKPA shows effective June 26, 2025 for all registries.

SHOW BUDGET*

• The AKKPS hosted sanctioned show will cost approximately $10,000 plus 120 volunteer hours which includes:

• AKKPS BOD Volunteer Hours - 120 hours at $0
  • Communication with broadcasting company 40 hours
  • Ordering and mailing ribbons / prizes / gifts 20 hours
  • Advertising 15 hours
  • Judge communication 10 hours
  • 3rd party video auditing communication 5 hours
  • Misc 30 hours
• The AKKPS Budgets AKKPS funds of $4000 per year for AKKPS Sanctioned shows and sponsor gifts.
• The remaining funds of $6000 will come from Sponsorships ($2000) and show entry fees ($20 X 200 entries)
