AKKPS KUNEKUNE COLOR CHART
KuneKunes come in an wide array of color patterns.
The dominant color comes first, followed by the secondary color.
An additional designator (B or SB) can be added to a color.
The breeder should use the color chart to determine the color of the pig when litter notifying.
AKKPS recognizes the following colors:
- Cream
- Ginger
- Black
- Brown
- Tri
- Gold Tip (rare & requires documentation)
- Ginger & Black

AKKPS recognizes the following designators:

- Belting / Banding / High White (B)
CREAM
- Solid Cream coat with no other colors
- Skin can be pink or dark with or without spots
- Agouti striping is common and often fades with age
- Cream is a dliute of Ginger
BROWN

- Agouti striping is common and often fades with age
- Adults often look black

- Dominant Color Comes First
- Agouti striping is common and often fades with age
- As they age, the brown often looks black
- The White is a true White NOT cream.

- Solid Ginger coat with no black or brown
- Ginger can range from super light ginger to super dark ginger and all ginger shaded in between
- For Pigs that are Ginger and have (B) Belts/Bands/High % White - these pigs can be color coded 3 ways. It is the breeders choice.

- 3 distinct color combinations in the coat
- The traditional definition used to be white legs and underbelly of a ginger & black or black & ginger pig but as KuneKune colors have progressed so has the definition and choices of Tri.
- It is a breeders choice as to how they want to designate the color - see examples below
- A Tri colored pig can also be belted or banded
GOLD TIP

Gold Tip
- The Gold Tip color is rarely seen and therefore will require documentation and certification.
- The pig must be 12 months old.
- 5 pictures will be required - front, back, both sides (including legs) and under belly.
- At birth the pig must have been litter notified and registered as solid brown or solid black.
- Black Skin
- Please note a ginger cannot turn into a Gold Tip.

BELTED & BANDED (B)

- Belted and Banded KuneKunes are not a color on the AKKPS color chart.
- AKKPS does not recognize different types of belts
- AKKPS does not require picture documentation for the “B” designation
- Belts and Bands appear is white, brown, black and ginger.
- Pigs with a belt or band are designated by the breeder at the time of litter notification and designated with a (B) in the AKKPS Herdbook.
- Dual registered animals who have a band or belt designation are designated with a (B) in the AKKPS Herdbook
HIGH % PERCENTAGE WHITE (B)

- High White Percentage is defined as 85% or more white in the coat color.
- High Percentage White Pigs are designated by the breeder at the time of litter notification and designated with a (B) in the AKKPS Herdbook.
- Dual registered animals who are High Percentage White are designation are designated with a (B) in the AKKPS Herdbook.
