We started out with our very first Kunekune pigs in 2019, and oh what an amazing journey it has been! With our first breeding pair under our belt, and a sponsored membership granted to us, we were hooked! So, we quickly set off to get our second breeding pair! Not realizing how small a weaned boar would be, and picking up in the middle of a harsh winter, my new little buddy “Tungsten” got to come indoors for awhile. Of course, it didn’t take long for us to let him out of the kennel to run around and play in the house. He loved bananas from day 1, so we nicknamed him “Tunky the monkey”. He was the most adorable thing ever! He has since become my very best pig buddy on the farm. He’s now 5 years old and still breeding like a champ!

I joined the AKKPS over 8 years ago to learn more about the breed and to hopefully contribute to the registry by breeding quality registered KuneKune pigs.
I also wanted to volunteer my time to join the Board of Directors to help guide the registry as it grew and could offer more to its members. This also led to me compiling a number of educational articles about various topics to assist newer members with their journey into this wonderful breed.
The registry continues to grow by responding to the members thru open communication and transparency.
I appreciate the efforts of the board to continue to expand the role of the KuneKune and to educate others about the breed.

It's impossible to pick just one pig as your favorite but if I have to choose then it's Miss ippi from Mississippi.
I joined AKKPS in 2013, not long after Goose Meadow Farm had acquired their imports from the UK. Although I already had 4 registered pigs I made the trip to Louisiana with my daughter-in-law Amanda. She purchased Black Betty (Wilsons Gina) and & I came home with my Trish Miss ippi.
It still gives me a thrill today to see these wonderful pigs in the AKKPS Herd Book.
Without this registry which provides a continuous line of pedigree for DNA verified kunekunes we take the risk of losing them.
I am proud to be an Exclusive Breeder of AKKPS and to do my part in preserving our heritage kunekunes for future generations.
