Commonly Asked Parentage DNA Verification Questions
- Can the owner of a pig submit DNA on an unregistered pig and register the pig? No. Only the breeder of the pig/owner of the sow at the time the litter was born can register a pig in the litter. In addition, both parents must be AKKPS Registered.
- Is there a DNA test to prove that a pig is a purebred KuneKune? No. The DNA test that is done is a Parentage DNA Test. All pigs in an AKKPS pedigree are DNA Parentage verified with their parents and so on throughout the AKKPS Pedigree up to the import. There is no DNA test like there is in dogs to provide information on what breed the pigs is.
- The sow was exposed to multiple boars. My sow co-farrowed with other sows. What do I enter for DNA Parentage Verification for the sire and dam? List all possible sires and dams on the entry form for DNA Parentage Verification.
